Who is Hayashino Mihana? Mihana is an optimistic, cheerful girl. Her family moved to Tokyo from Hokkaido, much to her dislike--however she quickly made new friends at Shin Mugen Gakuen. She often hides the fact she's a country girl, but her general naivete makes people suspect her. She loves fashion and trends, but isn't very trendy or fashionable. Instead she stares at magazines and wishes she could pull off being glamorous. She also loves reading manga (comics), romance novels, magazines, and watching various television shows and soaps. She's also quite a large fan of pop music. She also enjoys being outdoors, while she isn't exactly a sporty person, she does enjoy playing team games. She can be somewhat naive, but is a nice and likeable person. She's agreeable and gets along well with others, and exudes a very cute personality (naturally). She doesn't understand why people are cruel or why people are rude for no reason. She dislikes both very much, and though she usually doesn't state opinions which could cause an argument, she is likely to tell someone to stop being rude. Sailortaurus is one of the few Zodiac Senshi who knew exactly what to do after being awakened. She has powerful defensive attacks and she knows that she is best suited to protecting the Senshi while the stronger ones attack. Attacks & Powers Taurus Cosmic Star Power, Make Up Mihana says this to transform into Sailortaurus. She lifts her henshin stick to the sky and pink vines of energy grow up from the ground and wrap around her, forming her sailorfuku. White Bull Charge Sailortaurus says this to create an apparition of a white bull which charges towards its enemy and strikes them with an incredible force. Nature Attack Sailortaurus raises her hands into the sky and then brings them downwards, making motions like she's pulling on strings. Pink vines grow up from the ground which wrap themselves around an enemy, keeping them in place. Author's Comments Mihana is the quintessential Japanese girl, that's what I decided to aim towards. She's cute, bubbly, sweet, a bit naive, and a bit of a dreamer. These are qualities that Japanese people feel are the typical and most desired amongst Japanese girls. Ever notice how the lead characters in just about every shoujo anime shares the same qualities? Usagi in Sailormoon, Miaka in Fushigi Yuugi, Hikaru in Magic Knight Rayearth, Sakura in Card Captor Sakura, the list goes on and on. Chances are, if you liked Usagi in Sailormoon you'll like the lead character in just about any shoujo anime or manga you'll find. Why? Because, as I said, these are the qualities they feel are the most common and ideal, regardless of whether or not that is true. An ideal American/Western female is usually a girl who is strong, tenacious, athletic, and smart (look at Disney's heroines for examples). It's no surprise that Mizuno Ami is the most popular of all Sailormoon characters in Japan, with Chibiusa and Usagi behind her. While Americans seemed to take onto Rei much more than the Japanese did. Anyways, Sailormoon Zodiac was seriously lacking in any sort of character like this prior to the rewrite, mainly because I don't particularly like (or I DIDN'T like) this sort of character, though I've grown to find them quite endearing.
