Who is Kazemori Hikari? Hikari is generally a calm and cheerful person. She loves being outdoors, preferably on the beach or near the ocean where she feels most at home. She enjoys flying kites on the beach and collecting oddly shaped seashells. She is very much an idealist and a dreamer, though she does understand the harsh realities of war and destruction. She is romantic and diplomatic. Unlike the rest of the Zodiac Senshi, Kazeno Hikari (as she initially named herself) was sent to the future by Queen Selestia to aid the Zodiac Senshi. Since she never lived on Earth, many of her experiences are new. She is often very nostalgic about her old home and her old life. Unfortunately, this does not work well with the fact that her former lover *was* reborn on Earth and has no memories or emotions attached to Hikari. Despite the set-back, Hikari is the sort of person who is determined to make sure everything turns out perfect in the end. As a Zodiac Senshi, Sailorcancer controls the winds--she is actually trained enough to control her powers without actually being in Senshi form. Cancer is more of a defensive fighter. She has a very maternal instinct and would rather help protect the Senshi than attack the enemy. Cancer uses her control over the wind to aid the Senshi and keep them out of harms way. Mature and calm, she was chosen in the Golden Millennium to be the laison between the Zodiac Senshi's leader, Sailorlibra, and Queen Selestia. For this reason, she was also chosen by Selestia to be sent to the future to aid the reborn Zodiac Senshi. Attacks & Powers Cancer Cosmic Star Power, Make Up Hikari says this to turn into Sailorcancer. She raises her henshin wand into the air and bands of swirling wind rise from the earth and spiral around her. The wind dies down, and then magically she is in her sailorfuku. Wind Flash (Offensive Attack) When Sailorcancer says these words, a gust of wind blows from behind her to her enemy. She doesn't need to perform any action to cast the attack, and she can control the strength of the blast: from as gentle as a cool breeze to as damaging as hurricane winds. She often uses her attack for aethsetic purposes such as having the perfect breeze fly by as she introduces herself. She was often berated during the Golden Millennium for using her powers frivilously. Wall of Wind (Defensive Attack) When Sailorcancer says this, she can create a wall of wind to protect her from enemies. It has the effect of putting the Senshi within an "eye" of a spinning funnel cloud. If/When an enemy touches the wall of wind, they will be sent flying off in another direction. Author's Comments Hikari's original name was Kazeno Hikari, I changed it within the story to Kazemori Hikari...one because it's actually a real Japanese last name and two because its very fitting. ^_^ what else about Hikari? Well, I don't know. I've always had her sentimental and gentle, as a stereotypical Cancer is supposed to be. I also wanted her to be the epitome of "feminine" as the Sun sign for Cancer is the Moon and the Moon is associated with the feminine in almost all cultures around the world. So Hikari is all those things I consider to be feminine qualities--gentle, motherly, protecting, nuturing. She's also some stereotypically feminine qualities such as being pretty, romantic, and idealistic. More importantly she's an interesting match for Jessica, her exact opposite. Like Jessica represents the yang in the I Ching, Hikari is the ying. She represents the dark, the moon, femininity, passiveness, yielding, receptiveness, softness. I never planned that, as much as I'd like to say I did. I find it oddly coincidental I decided to stick the Sun and the Moon together, but I guess it really isn't that odd at all... I was probably thinking it somewhere in my subconcious. Okay enough of my babbling. :)
