Who is Nakayama Ameko? Ameko was born in Naha, Okinawa and from a young age was the target of vicious rumours. People often accused her of being the love-child of an American soldier due to her unusually Western appearance. This untruth was so frustrating, Ameko's father, a meteorologist, decided to move to Tokyo where they hoped people would be more accepting. Ameko is someone who exudes a happy, bright, super light-hearted personality, but in reality hides a sad and lonely girl who fears being hated and being alone. She has never felt she has had any purpose in life or any friends, but yet she continues on with a smile on her face and bright, happy eyes. When Ameko does make friends, she tries her hardest to hold on to them tightly, because she appreciates their love and support so much. She is a loyal friend to the very end. Ameko hates to hurt others, and likes to be polite. Her behaiour is often times strange. Ameko is not the brightest of all people on Earth, nor is she the most courageous. However, she does try her hardest. Ameko is very vulnerable and fragile, she is the sort of personality that can easily break under the strain of a more dominant personality. As a Zodiac Senshi, Sailoraquarius is mindful of using her attacks. She hates the idea of hurting another creature, no matter what. Her attacks are more defensive than they are offensive, so she uses them to aid her friends. It bothers Ameko to be a Zodiac Senshi, but she believes that only as a Zodiac Senshi can she feel fully accepted and have friends. Attacks & Powers Aquarius Cosmic Star Power, Make Up Ameko says this and raises her henshin stick to the sky. A ribbon of light emits from the top and begins to wrap around her from top to bottom like a mummy is wrapped. Once it gets down to her feet she begins to spin rapidly as the light disappears. Right before she stops spinning, there's a huge burst of light and magically she's in her Sailorfuku. Rain Flood (Offensive Attack) Freezing Mist Vaporization (Defensive Attack) Author's Comments This is a very difficult commentary for me to write. As many people know, the entire SMMT started out as a little joke I had with my friends the freshman year of highschool. Aquarius was based on my very good friend, actually, she still is. I've added some things and made many changes since 1995, but the very basic part of Ameko is still based on my friend. Even Ameko's original name, Janie Lee, was chosen by this friend because Janie was what she wanted to be called and Lee was the lastname she wished she had. The character has the same look, same hair, the same eyes, and many descriptions of Ameko are actually descriptions of my friend. When I wrote the rewrites, I decided I would take a darker turn with Ameko. I didn't give this much thought because as far as I knew, my friend was healthy and had finally found happiness. Unfortunately, this wasn't true at all. In 2004 this friend decided to take her life. Today I find it very difficult to write the "darker" Ameko. Because of all of this, Ameko's become a very special character to me. That's all I really have to say about Ameko, sorry if it wasn't what you wanted to know or hear.
