Welcome to Sailormoon-Millennia.Net

Disclaimer: Although Sailormoon is a copyright of Naoko Takeuchi, Toei, and Kodansha; Sailormoon Zodiac (SMZ), Sailormoon Neo (SMNeo), and Sailormoon Genesis (SMGn) are the property of Janelle J. No one is to take the likenesses, names, storylines, or other original details unless they happen to be Takeuchi-sensei herself, or some other Japanese official.

You are at a website dedicated to an internet-published fanfiction of Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon by Janelle J. (aka MiakaShi).

The Sailormoon Millennia Trilogy consists of three fanfics: Sailormoon Zodiac, Sailormoon Neo, and Sailormoon Genesis. The first episode of the Trilogy was published in December 1995 and series continues to this date.

This website exists due to the overwhelming and surprising amount of fandom and support from well-wishers. Without it, there wouldn't have been a need for such an extensive site. Also due to the surprising amount of fandom, you will find that reading this fanfic is not the typical fanfic experience. In addition to the text itself, there are over 1000 pieces of fanart, over 30 spin-off/sequel fanfics, animations, fanmusic, and countless other lovely things.

Thanks to all the fans for nearly 10 years of support...

Happy 10th Anniversary
Posted by Janelle (MiakaShi) on 20 Dec 2005 @ 10:13:22 am

Hello,

The official 10th birthday of Sailormoon Zodiac has passed. Yes, that's right--this fanfiction has been on the internet for slightly over 10 years now. I wonder how many of you weren't even born then, or how many of you weren't able to read then? Interesting how fast time seems to fly by.

Well, enough of the useless jabber--Sailormoon Zodiac episode 21 is finally out, I recommend going back and reading 20 for the full effect :) If you'd like to discuss it after reading it, please hop to the forum. I have episode 22 finished too, but I decided that I would release that with episode 23. I also uploaded a completely arbitrary selection of fanart, there's about 12 new images up in random galleries but my favorites are this zodiac image and this SeraMyu Capricorn Cute! If you don't see your art up, don't fret. It was either because: a) you sent me an image not in .jpg form, b) you send me 40 images in one email, or c) you sent me an image that requires a new category (say, an image that contains stuff from all 3 series) Your art will go up eventually. :) Just please be patient.

Unfortunately, the fanfiction is still on hiatus. I have no timeline or estimated time of arrival for the next two episodes. If you don't know why I am on hiatus, please read the message below. I want to say thank you very much to the many kind people who've continued to send art, as well as leave me well-wishes. Thank you guys, I appreciate your patience as well as your continued support.

To those who've been here the whole 10 years--thank you so much and I hope that one day when I finish the fanfic, it'll have been worth the wait (not likely, that's hard to live up to tongue) I hope with the next update I can upload the backlog of fanart, as well as finally post up the "official" art work for the series....

Temporary hiatus
Posted by Janelle (MiakaShi) on 20 Sep 2005 @ 01:29:26 am

Hello--

As you are aware, the upcoming Zodiac update is several months late. Thank you to all those who have been patiently waiting. However, there are some people who have been less than patient and understanding. These are people who do not realise that people have lives, jobs, and other hobbies beyond a fanfiction. I wish these people would understand, would read my journal, and see how worn out and tired I am since I started working in Japan. These people don't understand--these people have been demanding, emailing, and just generally impatient. Because of these people, I am putting my fanfiction on hiatus.

Out of respect of my fans, I cannot keep promising updates when I have no idea when I'll have the time to do them. I'm not in high school or in college anymore, when I had time on weekends or after school. I have never been so busy in my life, never been so tired, stressed, and worn out. I have not had a single day home alone for the past two months. My grandmother died, I had to rush back to America, then rush back to Japan to work. I work in city hall every day, as well as teach grade school students twice a week, teach english once a week, go to a Japanese class, as conferences, meetings, etc. I barely have time to sleep, let alone time to work on a fanfiction right now. Furthermore, when I do have time I'm so tired from translating Japanese to English or talking Japanese all day that my brain is worn. I can barely formulate English sometimes. Naturally, the people whining about how pissed off they are for waiting are people who have no idea what I'm talking about anyways and probably aren't willing to try and sympathise.

To my fans that have been patient--thank you. You've been with me for nearly 10 years now, and I appreciate it. I will finish Zodiac, just for you. No longer for myself, because I don't care anymore. I'm just finishing it because I owe it to you. This hobby has turned into a burden for me, but I'll finish it because I should, not necessarily because I want to.

To those who've been annoying and harassing--I have a life, perhaps you should get one as well instead of bitching about how slow I am writing a fanfiction. If you had a life, you wouldn't really notice how long this is taking. Yes, I know some people are just anxious to know what happens next--but I don't think these are the people who whine. I think the whiners are the people who want to know, but also are really selfish and want things when they demand them. Lets make this clear: I am NOT getting paid to write this. I am not J.K. Rowling. I am not a millionaire. In fact, running this website costs me several hundred dollars a year. If I shut this website down, I could take a vacation overseas instead every year. Furthermore, I do not like Sailormoon. I have not had interest in it for almost 9 years now, but yet I continue to write because I have fans who like my work. Instead of emailing me and going, "Why is this taking so long? Why don't you do this and this, I'm tired of waiting!" why don't you just simply understand I have a lot of shit going on right now and I just don't have any time. Trust me, it's possible to NOT have time to take 2 hours to update something.

The moment writing this fanfiction makes me unhappy is the moment I quit. That moment is starting to draw very close. If you read my journal, you'd understand. If you honestly expect me to stay at home and upload fanfiction instead of go to work, go to class, or relax in a foreign country--you are insane. This is a hobby, I already have a job, and as I said, it's not writing fanfiction since I don't get a paycheck for it NOR does it make me particularly happy to write it.

99.9% of my fans are great and supportive people who are patient. I love you guys, many of you have become my close friends, I've met some of you in person. You guys draw amazing fanart, write fun spinoffs, play my characters in RPGs--these things make me really happy and I'm happy to do something that people enjoy. I will continue for you, I promise.

When will the next episode come out? When I have free time again AND when I feel like it. It could be next week, it could be next month, you'll just have to wait. A million thank yous to those who ARE understanding and who have sent me and left me comments of support. As I said in this website's opening paragraph, this website ONLY exists because you are here for me. I respect you, therefore I'm telling you I just don't know when it'll come out, so stop waiting. Sign up for the mailing list, you'll get an email when it gets updated. Or check back every month or so. Or just move on to something else, if you're tired of waiting--you can find this fanfiction years from now when it's finished.

With that, goodbye. Starting a career, moving to a foreign country, adjusting, and learning to speak a new language and living in a new culture is not easy. There's a reason why so few people move overseas, even though lots of people say they'd love to live somewhere else. Thank you very much to all those who understand that and are cheering for my success in my new job and life. You'll hear from me when the episode is complete and perfect. It'll be a grand, huge, lovely update, I don't know when it will happen, but it will sometime in the near future.

In Japan!
Posted by Janelle (MiakaShi) on 01 Aug 2005 @ 08:27:04 pm

Hi guys, I'm in Japan...no, I don't have the internet back yet, I'm writing this from work. As those who read my journal know, I'm in the middle of nowhere Japan (literally, there's nothing but mountains and rice paddies here) so it will take a week or two before I get my internet set up. However, the episode is done and perhaps you'll get two episodes in one go. :) If it takes too long, I will try and upload the file at work...

If you'd like to follow my adventures, please go to my journal...that way as soon as I get internet, you can harass me if I don't follow through. wink...

No update :(
Posted by Janelle (MiakaShi) on 22 Jul 2005 @ 04:58:58 am

I'm really, really sorry. The episode is done, it has been beta tested, but it hasn't been spell checked, updated, or anything. I just simply did not have time. As I speak, I'm leaving for Japan in 15 minutes. The plan was to upload everything and finish my packing last night, when a summer storm decided to roll in and knock out power for 6 hours. :/ Not cool. As a result, it's 7 in the morning and I'm running around like a headless chicken.

Episode 21 WILL be up as SOON as I can get an internet connection in Japan. Hopefully this will be as soon as one week and will take no later than two. Thanks for the patience guys. ...

Small update...
Posted by Janelle (MiakaShi) on 05 Jul 2005 @ 11:20:44 am

I said I'd update...and well, it's a bit late, but you'll have to accept my token of goodwill. :)

I've made an extremely minor fanart update, there are approximately 15 new pieces of art--mainly in the Zodiac gallery with a particularly striking Solar Guardians..really more of a highly edited/coloured sketch, but it's beautiful anyways isn't it? For those of you who weren't happy with my descriptions of them, well, you can assume this is what they look like now. ^_~

Also, I'd like to say that I have merged the Villains & Group galleries for SMNeo--the reasons are boring but include such nonsense as: "to match the Zodiac gallery better" and "I like amibiguity and vagueness." I also discovered a new way to upload fanart so now updates will probably be more small, but more frequent instead of the previous "100 new images every 6 months" kind of thing...

Okay, and now the important part. Sailormoon Zodiac episode 21 IS finished. It is, however, not ready to be released. The good news is that the next one or two episodes have very little changes in them and will be released in July. I have no promises about the rest of Zodiac, except that I'm doing the best I can with work, other hobbies, and other interests... :)...
